Senator Sir WALTER COOPER - Has the Minister for Civil Aviation read a report, published in the Brisbane daily press of 2nd October 1964, that one of the world's leading aviation scientists, Mr. Dick Shaw, Technical and Development Manager of Qantas Empire Airways Ltd., had appealed for a slowing down of the race for a supersonic airliner, stating that Qan- tas would like to see both the British-French and the American supersonic airliner projects slowed, and that by doing so they could produce a safe and useful aircraft? In view of Australian aviation's wonderful record of air safety, will the Minister give an assurance that safety will not be sacrificed to speed in the matter of any approval given by the Government to civil aviation authorities or to TransAustralia Airlines for the purchase of any new aircraft for service in this country?
