Senator LAMP (TASMANIA) asked the Minister representing the Treasurer, upon notice -

1.   Is the Commonwealth Statistician's price index figure of 19s. 3d. a week for a four or live roomed house in the City of Launceston a measure of value; or is it just a price index figure used in the past for the measuring of fluctuations?

2.   If it is intended as a measure of value, will the Treasurer have an inquiry made with the idea of having the true value reflected in the figures?
