Senator McLeay (South Australia) (Leader of the Opposition) . - Honorable senators on this side of the chamber support the remarks which have just been made by the Leader of the Senate. The late Mr. Orchard, who represented the electorate of Nepean, New South Wales, in the House of Representatives, was particularly well known for his interest in members of the Australian Imperial Force during the last war. He also took a very active part in committee work in the campaign to raise the funds necessary for the prosecution of the World War of 1914-18. He retired from Parliament in 1919, but maintained an active interest in charitable organizations in New South Wales. Mr. Orchard was well known for the excellent work which he did as an original member of the Australian Broadcasting Commission. His public service provides a record of which his family may well be proud. On behalf of the Opposition I extend to his widow and children our deepest sympathy.
