Senator FRASER (WESTERN AUSTRALIA) (Minister for External Territories) . - There have been occasions when the managers of commercial stations have deleted portions of political speeches that have already been censored, and have so mutilated them a few minutes before delivery that they have been unsuitable for broadcasting. From what I know of these things, it would not be too much to allow the national stations to exercise some form of control over commercial stations. I am confident that had the speeeh to which I have referred been referred to the Australian Broadcasting Commission, not one word would have been deleted from it. The manager of a commercial broadcasting station should not have the right to say what shall or shall not be included in a political broadcast.
