Senator FRASER - The Minister for Commerce has supplied the following answer : -

This matter is now being considered, and an announcement of the Government's policy will be made in the immediate future.


Senator E B JOHNSTON asked the Minister representing the Minister for Commerce, upon notice -

When is it anticipated that a further advance will be made to wheat-growers on their 194 1 -42 harvest?


Senator FRASER - The Minister for Commerce has supplied the following a nswer : -

A further advance will bo made in connexion with the 1941-42 wheat crop when the financial position of the pool justifies payment.


Senator E B JOHNSTON asked the Minister representing the Minister for Commerce, upon notice -

1.   In view of the present position of the wheat industry, has the Government considered the necessity of finalizing; the payments owing to wheat-growers for their 1940-41 crops? 2.If so. when may further payments thereon be expected?

SenatorFRASER.- The Minister for Commerce has supplied the following answers : -

1.   Payments on No. 4 pool cannot be com pleted until the pool is wound up.T here is still a considerable quantity of wheat held in this pool. 2.No indication can be given as to when further payments will be made.
