Senator KEANE (Victoria) (Minister for Trade and Customs) . - in reply - Although the special committee to review taxation anomalies has not yet been appointed, the matter is under consideration, and in due course the personnel will he announced. The proposal that the States should refund1s. in the £1 to taxpayers whose assessments exceed 18s. in the £1 has been submitted to the State Treasurers, hut no finality has been reached.

Senator McLeay - How was the proposal received in New South Wales?

Senator KEANE - I do not know.
