Senator McLEAY (South AustraliaLeader of the Opposition) . - All that the amendment seeks to achieve is the retention of certain fish foods in the 5 per cent, list. By the vote just taken, the committee has decided that boats, nets and other equipment used by fishermen shall be subject to a sales tax of only 5 per cent. I suggest that, in order to be consistent, the fish which is produced by that equipment should be placed in the same category. As some honorable senators may think that this is a small item, I point out that during 1939 fish to the value of over £1,000,000 was imported into Australia. I trust that the Minister will see his way to accept the amendment.
