Senator COLLINGS asked the Minister representing the Minister for Commerce, upon notice -

1   . Did the Minister make a public statement on 11th March, 1941, on the compulsory storage of essential foodstuffs, in which he encouraged private firms to finance the storage of their own commodities?

2.   Is the object of such encouragement the saving of cost to the Government?

3.   What steps, if any, are to be taken to prevent the firms concerned from passing on the cost of such arrangements to the consumer ?
