Senator Sir GEORGE PEARCE (WESTERN AUSTRALIA) (Minister for External Affairs) [ 9.13]. -The fact thata tariff schedule becomes operative immediately it is tabled in the House ofRepre- sentatives renders it necessary that the resolutions contained therein shall be laid before that House before they otherwise become public. I understand that in the past, when a new schedule was tabled in the Lower House, copies were placed in the lockers of senators and members. I shall ascertain if that course has been followed in this instance.

Senator Foll -Theyare in the lockers.

Question resolved inthe affirmative.

The Senate adjourned at9.14 p.m.
