Senator HERBERT HAYS (Tasmania) . - There are reasons why the pension should not be given to the children, especially if the mother marries a worthless fellow. If the Government considers the matter, as it has promised to do, it should consider the paying of the money into a trust account.

Senator Sir George Pearce - That would require further legislation.

Senator HERBERT HAYS - I agree. I support the Government in the matter. All I say is that it should consider, not the payment of the money to the children, but its diversion into a trust account for the benefit of the children when they come of age. It should not in any circumstances be handed over to the person who marries the soldier's widow.
