Senator COLLINGS (Queensland) .- The Opposition will support this bill. I have taken the trouble to make a careful study of it and to compare it with the original act; it appears to me to be principally a machinery measure for the purpose of facilitating such matters as arbitration with parties from whom the Government acquires land. In the circumstances the Opposition is prepared to allow the bill to be passed without delay.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

Bill read a second time.

In committee:

Clauses 1 and 2 agreed to.

Clause 3 (Procedure on claim for compensation being received).
