Senator HERBERT HAYS (Tasmania) . - A sum of £2,000 is provided for meeting the cost of advertising Australian products in the East and in special markets. In what way is this money expended?


Senator Sir George Pearce - In very much the same way as I have already explained in connexion with another item, except that in this case special attention is given to the sale of our products in Eastern countries.


Senator HERBERT HAYS - Is the advertising done through the publicity branch ?


Senator Sir George Pearce - Yes; through the Commerce Department.

Proposed vote agreed to.

Proposed votes- Refunds of Revenue, £1,350,000; Advance to the Treasurer, £2,000,000; War Services payable out of Revenue, £1,171,940 ; and Commonwealth Railways, £549,900 - agreed to.
