Senator COLLINGS asked the Minister representing the Prime Minister, upon notice -

1.   Has the Prime Minister received a communication from the Queensland Council of Agriculture asking that the Fedora!Govern- ment be requested to have the exchange now charged by all banks upon cheques abolished?

2.   If so, what reply to the council has been made or is contemplated?

Senator Sir GEORGE PEARCE (WESTERN AUSTRALIA) - The Prime Minister has supplied the following answers: -

1.   Yes.

2.   The Commonwealth Bank is being asked to take the matter up with the trading banks.
