Senator Sir GEORGE PEARCE (Western Australia) (Minister for External Affairs) . - by leave - I regret to inform honorable senators of the death in Melbourne, on the 16th November, of the Honorable Jens August Jensen, who was formerly a member of the House of Representatives. The late Mr. Jensen was originally a member of the House of Assembly in Tasmania. He was elected to that House in 1903, and continued as a member until his election in 1910 to represent the division of Bass in the House of Representatives. He represented that constituency until 1919. In 1922 he was re-elected to the House of Assembly of Tasmania, as member for the division of Bassand remained a member of that House until 1934. From September, 1914 to July, 1915, he was an Assistant Minister in the Fisher Government. He was appointed as Minister for the Navy in the Hughes Ministry in July, 1915, and held that office until February, 1.917. From February, 1917 to December, 1918, he was Minister for Trade and Customs. I move -

That this Senate expresses its deep regret at the death of the Honorable Jens August Jensen, a former member of theTasmanian and Commonwealth Parliaments and Minister of State, places on record its appreciation of his public services, and tenders to his widow and family its sympathy in their bereavement.
