Senator BROWN (QUEENSLAND) asked the Minister representing the Minister for Trade and Customs, upon notice -

1.   Has the book by John Reed entitled Ten Days that Shook the World been banned?

2.   It not, why has the film based on this bookbeenstopped from entering Australia?

3.   If the book has been banned, is that the sole reason for banning the film?

4.   Is it not a fact that this film has been exhibited in most countries of the world? ,

Senator Sir GEORGEPEARCE.The Minister for Trade and Customs has supplied the following answers to the honorable senator's questions : -

l.   No. 2and 3. Registration of the film was refused by the Censorship Board because it was considered that it would be used for undesirable propaganda purposes. If the importer so desires he can appeal to the Appeal Censor against the board's decision.

4.   I am unable to say.
