Senator E B JOHNSTON (WESTERN AUSTRALIA) asked the Minister representing the Treasurer, upon notice -

1.   What amounts are payable to each State to date under the provisions of theLoan (Farmers' Debt Adjustment) Act 1935?

2.   What amounts have been paid to each State to date, under this act?

3.   Is it a fact that the work of farmers' debts adjustment is being delayed in Western Australia pending the receipt of the necessary amounts from the Federal Government?

4.   If so, will the Government expedite the payments to the Western Australian Government?

Senator Sir GEORGEPEARCE.The Treasurer has supplied the following answers: -

1.   Under the Loan (Farmers' Debt Adjustment) Act 1935-36, an amount of £10,000,000 was apportioned between the States as follows : -


The balance of £2,000,000 will bo apportioned later. Payments to States arc limited by the amount of loan money available, but up to date all applications by Status have been paid.


3.   Of the amount of £250,000 paid to Western Australia only £150,000 has so far been paid out by the State. There has been no delay in payment to the State of Western Australia of amounts applied for.
