Senator McLACHLAN (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - On the 11th September, Senator. Brand asked the Minister representing the Minister for Repatriation the following questions; upon notice: -

1.   How many applications were made by soldiers' widows during the twelve months ending the 30th June, 1936, for the accept ante of their husbands' deaths as due to war service ?

2.   How. many of these applications were granted ?

The Minister for Repatriation has supplied the following answers. -

1.   One thousand four hundred and fortyfour.

2.   Five hundred and thirty-nine widows were granted pensions during the year ended the 30th June; 1936, whilst 80 application were in course of investigation at that date.
