Senator A J McLACHLAN (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - The Minister for Trade and Customs has supplied the following answers: -

1.   As explained in my reply to a somewhat similar questionconcerning glucose by the honorable senator on Wednesday last, there is at present only one manufacturer of glucose in Australia, and to furnish the information requested would divulge the trading operations of a single manufacturer. This the Government is not prepared to do. It may be stated, however, that the Tariff Board, in its report dated the 3rd November, 1933, on glucose estimated the normal annual Australian requirements to be from 8,000 to 9,000 tons.

2.   1933-1934, 11 tons; 1934-1935, 20 tons.
