Senator Sir GEORGE PEARCE (Western Australia) (Minister for External Affairs) [3.45]. - I find myself in considerable agreement with the point raised by Senator James McLachlan. I have seen the rooms in Adelaide, and I agree that they are not suitable for the work which South Australian senators and members have to do in the capital of their own State. I am glad to say that in Western Australia we have somewhat better rooms than we used to have. I hope that in Queensland also the rooms will be improved. I shall certainly bring under the notice of the Minister who controls the accommodation for federal members the remarks that have been made on the subject. The matter of telephone calls of members from the country is one that should be looked into and I shall bring it under the notice of the Minister.
