Senator JAMES McLACHLAN (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) asked the Leader of the Government in the Senate, upon notice -

1.   Is it a fact that no train leaves Adelaide on Sundays for Melbourne and delay is thereby caused to business people?

2.   In view of the reports of serious inconvenience caused to interstate railway passengers, will the Minister use his influence with the Victorian and South Australian authorities in an endeavour to have reinstated the train which previously left Melbourne for Adelaide on Saturdays?

Senator Sir GEORGEPEARCE.The replies to the honorable senator's questions are as follows: -

1.   There is no train from Adelaide to Melbourne on Sunday nights.

2.   Representations in the matter will be made to the railway authorities concerned.
