Senator A J McLACHLAN (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) (Postmaster-General) . - -When this provision was under discussion in the House of Representatives, the Treasurer (Mr. Casey), who was in charge of the bill, gave an assurance that each case would be dealt with on its merits, due regard being paid to the applicant's previous occupation and general qualifications. He also gave an assurance that the commission would administer the provisions for service pensions with both sympathy and common sense.
