Senator Sir GEORGE PEARCE (Western Australia) (Minister for External Affairs) [2.35]. - At present a subsidy of £2,150 is being paid to John Burke Limited, a company operating a fourweekly service from the Albert River to the Roper and McArthur rivers. I am aware that the company has made representations to the Minister for the Interior (Mr. Paterson) for the reinstatement of the subsidy. The Minister has submitted to Cabinet certain proposals in relation to the cheapening of freights in land transport in the Northern Territory, and he has also under consideration the matter of sea freights. In that connexion I shall see that the honorable senator's request is brought under the notice of the Minister..
