Senator COLLETT (WESTERN AUSTRALIA) asked the Minister representing the Treasurer, upon notice -

What are the last recorded figures of the annual expenditure of -

(1)   The Commonwealth ;

(2)   Each State-

(i)   State government;

(ii)   Local governments;

(iii)   Friendly or benefit societies;

(iv)   Trades unions;

(v)   Charitable organizations; in respect to -

(a)   Old-age pensions;

(b)   Invalid pensions;

(c)   Unemployment relief;

(d)   Casual unemployment;

(e)   Casual sickness, including free medical treatment and medical aids;

(f)   Destitute persons, aged, indigent, or infirm?


Senator Sir GEORGE PEARCE - The Treasurer has supplied the following answer : -
