Senator Sir GEORGE PEARCE -

On the8th November, Senator E. B. Johnston asked the following questions, upon notice: -

1.   With reference to the Loan (Farmers' Debt Adjustment) Act 1035. under which £12,000,000 was approved for the relief of farmers' debts, how much hits so far been paid to each State government for this purpose ?

2.   Which States have so far passed the necessary legislation to enable them to receive the grants approved by the Federal Parliament For farmers' debtadjustment under the said act?

The answers to the honorable senator's questions are as follows: -

1.   New South Wales, £5,000; South Australia, £10,000.

2.   New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania. With regard to Queensland, proposed legislation is now being considered by the Parliament of that State.
