Senator LECKIE (VICTORIA) - Does the Govern ment subscribe to the views of the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Employment regarding the introduction of a 40-hour week in Australia? If not,will it repudiate all responsibility for the statements made by Sir Frederick Stewart?


Senator Sir GEORGE PEARCE - In his statements in regard to a 40-hour week the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Employment' expresses his own opinion and does not speak for the Government. There is, therefore, no necessity for the Government to repudiate any responsibility for his statements.
