Senator FOLL (Queensland) .- One of the reasons for the appointment of the Tariff Board was that matters of this kind should be thoroughly investigated by an independent body before Parliament was asked to deal with them.

Senator Payne - The honorable senator did not say that when, we were considering the duties on tweeds.

Senator FOLL - I understand that the fur industry is already well established in Australia; but that it finds it necessary to import skins because sufficient skins of the right kind are not obtainable in Australia. Until such time as the Tariff Board has investigated this industry and presented its report, I , shall not support the additional duties proposed by Senator Payne.
