Senator OGDEN (TASMANIA) asked the Minister representing the Postmaster-General, upon notice -

1.   Whetherhe has noticed that the Oonah, which carries on the service betweenBurnie and Melbourne, has broken down?

2.   In view of this breakdown, will the Government, as soon as possible, give effect to the recommendation of the Joint Committee of Public Accounts regarding the provision of a more modern vessel for this service?

Senator McLACHLAN.The honorablethe Postmaster General has supplied the following answers :

1.   Yes.

2.   The Government has been closely considering the report of the Public Accounts Committee on communications between the mainland and Tasmania, and expects to announce its decision very shortly.
