Senator OGDEN (TASMANIA) asked the Minister representing the Minister for Home and Territories, upon notice -

1.   What is the total amount at present being paid in salaries and wages by the Federal Capital Commission ?

2.   What are the proportions of such sum which are being charged to Loans and Revenue respectively?

Senator Sir WILLIAM GLASGOW - The answers to the honorable senator's questions are as follow : -

1.   The amount paid during the current financial year up to the 30th November, 1927, is £320,562. The rate of expenditure varies slightly from month to month.

2.   The whole of the moneys advanced by the Treasurer to the Federal Capital Commission are from Loan Funds, and are paid to the Seat of Government Fund. The commission also collects certain revenue, which is also paid to the Seat of Government Fund. All expenditure is mot from this fund, as prescribed in section 17 of the Seat of Government (Administration) Act, 1924-1920.
