Senator LYNCH asked the Minister representing the Prime Minister, upon notice -

1.   Is it true that the profits of the Commonwealth Oil Refineries Limited last year were over £100,000?

2.   Is it true that the company has installations in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Newcastle, besides country depots, for distribution ?

3.   When may Western Australia expect to be put on the same footing as the eastern States by an extension of the company's operations here?

Senator Sir GEORGEPEARCE.The answers to the honorable senator's questions are -

1.   The gross profits amounted to £112,420 0s. 3d., with allowance for depreciation, £43,228 15s. 4d. The net profits were accordingly £69,200 4s.11d.

2.   Yes.

3.   This is a matter for consideration of the directors.
