Senator HERBERT HAYS (TASMANIA) - The Minister representing the PostmasterGeneral, yesterday informed me, in reply to a question, that a Western Australian tender for arms for telegraph poles was accepted in preference to a lower tender from Tasmania because of the difference in the class of the timber from the point of view of suitability for the department's special work. Can the Minister indicate the special work for which those arms for telegraph poles are required?

Senator Sir WILLIAM GLASGOW - As I am not a technical adviser to 'the Postmaster-General's Department, I am afraid that I cannot. If the honorable senator will put his question on the notice paper I shall see if the information can be obtained.
