Senator GRANT (New South Wales) . - We all sympathize with Senator Givens, who is anxious that the work of this chamber should be transacted in a businesslike manner; but I think it is very unfair to expect the Leader of the Opposition (Senator Needham) to commence his speech on the budget to-day, when we are within half an hour of the proposed adjournment, and conclude it on Wednesday next. In view of all the circumstances, I contend that Senator Givens's assertion that the Senate is neglecting its business is unwarranted.
