Senator GRANT (New South Wales) . - I should like the Minister (Senator Crawford) to say what expenditurewill be involved if this measure is passed. It seems to be the policy of the Government to continue to impose heavy dutieson imported goods, and also to grant bounties to industries incapable of carrying on without financial assistance. It would appear that, from the evidence in the possession of the Government, it is necessary to continue the bounty for a further term of three years; but that information has not yet been placed before the Senate. However, I shall not oppose the second reading.
