Senator GRANT (NEW SOUTH WALES) - I ask the Minister for Home and Territories whether the Government has recently considered the question of giving the white settlers in New Guinea direct representation on the Advisory Council, and, if so, what decision has been arrived at; also, if the Government has considered the advisableness of establishing trial by jury in the Mandated Territory ?

Senator Sir THOMASGLASGOW.The representation of white settlers in New Guinea on the Advisory Council will be considered when the expropriated properties have been disposed of. The Government has not yet considered the proposal to extend the principle of trial by jury to New Guinea.
