Senator CRAWFORD (QueenslandHonorary Minister) .- Whatever differences there were arose under the agreement between the War Service Homes Commissioner and the State Savings Bank Commissioners of Victoria. Those differences have now been composed; but, in order that they shall not recur or other disputes arise, it is proposed to enter into a new agreement. I am not sufficiently au fait with all the details of those differences to feel justified in attempting to convey them to the Senate. To do so would require a care-fully-prepared statement. I repeat that the returned soldiers have in no way suffered in consequence of the disagreement. Homes for them are still being built expeditiously and satisfactorily by the State Savings Bank, which will continue to act on behalf of the Commonwealth Government in this matter, although under a new agreement. To facilitate the arrangements in connexion with the agreement, it is proposed to make minor amendments, and for that reason this bill has been introduced.
