Senator GUTHRIE (Victoria) .- As the people in eastern countries, with whom we should endeavour to increase our trade have seriously objected to the ibis appearing on labels, cannot even the use of the word be prohibited ?

Senator Crawford - The ibis is a sacred bird in Egypt, but not in the East.

Senator GUTHRIE - We should also endeavour to build up a trade in Egypt, and that may be very difficult if a label such as I have mentioned is used.
