Senator PEARCE - The answers to the honorable senator's questions are as follow : -

1.   The Crown Solicitor was instructed to recover the amount due, and £38,000 was paid on the 15th April last.

2.   The sum of £37,665 is still due under the award of Sir Mark Sheldon, together with the cost of arbitration (£676 7s.) and costs of award (£215 5s. 6d.). The Crown Solicitor has been instructed to demand payment of the balance from all the defendants. It is impossible at present to say when payment will be made.

3.   I am advised that interest is not at present payable on the amount.
