Senator PEARCE (Western Australia) (Minister for Home and Territories) . - I explained the position during my second-reading speech. This £250,000 will be paid into a trust fund, but, annual estimates will be brought before Parliament. The expenses of the council for this year will be met from this £250,000, the object being to ensure to it a sum of money for a period in advance. For the information of Senator Kingsmill, I can say that all matters of research will be the function of the council. There is already a Commonwealth forestry school, and forestry will be carried out in the Federal Territory, but they will not come within the scope of the council.
