Senator NEEDHAM asked the Minister representing the Minister for Trade and Customs, upon notice -

1.   Is it a fact that Canada has imposed a dumping duty of 6 cents, a pound on all butter imported from Australia since the 1st January of this year.

2.   If so, would that not amount to a contravention of the preference treaty between Australia and Canada?

3.   Did Canada take this action on account of the Paterson stabilization scheme fixing a higher home price for butter against a lower export price?
