Senator CRAWFORD (Queensland) (Honorary Minister) . - In accordance with the Customs Act importers may have the duties they pay placed in a trust fund. I believe that that is done in the hope that in some way they may obtain a refund. Investigations made by the Customs Department show that it would be inequitable to refund duties, for in almost every instance the increase has been passed on to the purchaser of the goods.
