Senator FOSTER (Tasmania) - Can the Minister (Senator Russell) say whether the establishment of a Government life assurance branch has ever been seriously considered on the lines of a mutual benefit society, particularly for the benefit of public servants' We have been informed that there are, approximately, 25,000 public servants, and a good deal of work must be involved in collecting the premiums of those who contribute to funds controlled by the Government. It is generally believed that large profits are made by the life assurance offices, and it would be advisable if these were, utilized either for the benefit of the community or the public servants.
