The PRESIDENT (Senator the Hon T Givens (QUEENSLAND) - The point raised is a very simple one, and does not require any argument to dispose of it. It is true that the Standing Orders were suspended to enable the Customs Tariff Bill to be passed through all its stages without delay. The Customs Tariff Bill is not now before the Senate. It is only while that Bill is before the Senate that the Standing Orders are suspended. They are not now suspended, and the motion submitted by Senator Pearce is, therefore, quite in order.
