Senator E D MILLEN (NEW SOUTH WALES) - I am merely pointing out the reasons that induced the Government to impose these specific duties concurrently with ad valorem duties. We have here an industry which is to-day supplying onethird the requirements of Australia, and since it is capable, as far as its mechanical equipment is concerned, of meeting all Australia's requirements, we may legitimately give it that measure of protection which is necessary to produce so desirable a result.
