Senator LYNCH (Western Australia) (1:39 AM) . - Is it proposed to impose the duties provided in sub-item b on gas meters coming into this country? The obvious' conclusion is that gas meters are being made, or are about to be made, here.

Senator Payne - They are being made here.

Senator LYNCH - Then, we have parts of gas meters, as prescribed by departmental by-laws, free. It seems strange to impose a duty on gas meters, which include parts, and at the same time admit parts free'. This is not very intelligible to me, in the absence of some explanation.
