Senator DRAKE-BROCKMAN (Western Australia) . - The Minister's argument has strengthened the position I have taken up. Not only is silk a necessity as an article of wear for the people in the hotter portions of Australia, but it is also the raw material for certain manufacturing industries in the Commonwealth. As a matter of fact, I know that in Melbourne, not very far from Parliament House, there is a factory engaged in the making of ribbons, for which silk is the raw material. -My request is a most reasonable one. I have not asked that silk be introduced free, although I would have been fully justified in doing that.
