Senator GUTHRIE (VICTORIA) . - Senator Gardiner expressed a desire to obtain information as to the production of onions in the various States. I have the figures here. New South Wales, despite all the honorable senator's talk, produced last year only 784 tons, whereas the little garden State of Victoria produced 71,74.5 tons. The figures for the other States are: - Queensland, 221 tons; South Australia, 1,948 tons; Western Australia, 318 tons; and Tasmania, 127 tons. Eighty per cent. of the onions produced in Australia are grown in Victoria.
