Senator PAYNE (Tasmania) .- I have suggested a duty of 2½d. per lb. under the general Tariff because I desire to be fair to the condensed milk manufacturers in Australia. The VicePresident of the Executive Council (Senator Russell) has said that the duties have been increased to place the condensed milk manufacturers in a similar position to what they were in during the war period. I think a reduction of½d. per lb. will do that.
