Senator BOLTON (Victoria) .- The whole purpose of bringing this matter under the notice of the Senate during the first-reading debate was that honorable senators should not be committed to any of the items in the schedule until they were perfectly satisfied, and aware of the nature of the safeguard that was to be instituted by means of a Board. The Minister then in charge of the Senate gave a definite promise that the matter would be considered, as far as possible, from that aspect. I therefore urge the Minister to reconsider his decision not to permit the Tariff Board Bill to be brought before the Senate and settled before we go on with the schedule.
