Senator PRATTEN (NEW SOUTH WALES) . - There seems to be a little conflict of opinion between the Minister for Defence (Senator Pearce) and Senator Elliott.

The CHAIRMAN - What clause is the honorable senator discussing?

Senator PRATTEN (NEW SOUTH WALES) - The proposed new clause moved by Senator Elliott.

The CHAIRMAN - Senator Elliott,of his -own volition, has decided to take whatever action he considers necessary at a later stage. We are now discussing clause 37.

Senator PRATTEN (NEW SOUTH WALES) - Do I understand that the proposed new clause has been withdrawn ?

The CHAIRMAN - The honorable senator was only discussing it ; he had not moved that it be inserted.

Senator PRATTEN (NEW SOUTH WALES) - Then if that is the position, I shall reserve my remarks until a later stage.

Clause agreed to.
