Senator PEARCE (Western AustraliaMinister for Defence) . - If honorable senators will turn to the memorandum supplied to them showing the alterations proposed to be made in the principal Act by this Bill, they will see that the amendments proposed by this clause are largely of a drafting character. The introduction of the words "enlisted, registered, or controlled " in section 42a of the principal Act is intended to bring compulsory trainees under the provisions of the section. The new sub-section proposed is intended to provide that a trainee irregularly registered shall not be entitled to be discharged because of the irregularity.
