Senator GARDINER (New South Wales) (Vice-President of the Executive Council) . - This vote is based on the estimate for last year. So far as the extension of telephones is concerned, the Government are giving consideration to the question of extensions to country districts. Personally, I promise the honorable senator every assistance in having telephones extended.

Senator Lynch - I might remind the Minister that the extension of telephone lines to farming districts in the back country is included in the Government policy.
